Central Valley Job Fair Shows the Strength of the Local Solar Industry

Earlier this week, GRID Alternatives Central Valley held a job fair in Fresno that shows just how strong the local solar industry is.

The Solar Job Fair, held in partnership with PG&E, brought 16 local solar companies to the Manchester Center, seeking resumes and job-seeker information in order to fill an estimated 180 positions, including solar installers, marketers and sales representatives.

Chatter filled the room as job seekers were provided an opportunity to network with employers present at the event. Several GRID volunteers and community members traveled from across California seeking good jobs in solar.  Galen Connor, a  local GRID Volunteer who has logged 300 hours with GRID, happily announced that he has scheduled interviews as a result of the job fair. Marianne Samuel, a recent graduate of Santa Clara University with a Masters in Sustainable Energy and Electrical Engineering, said , “I submitted my resume to a number of companies and they were enthusiastic about my qualifications…so it has been a positive experience.”

On behalf of GRID Alternatives Central Valley, we would like to thank PG&E; SunEdison for its support through our RISE initiative; and local sponsors Manchester Center and Employment Development Department for helping make this event a great success!
