Second Annual Solar Jobs Fair a Success!

GRID Alternatives, in partnership with PG&E Pacific Energy Center, hosted our second annual Solar Jobs Fair in conjunction with the Intersolar conference in San Francisco. The event connected job seekers with more than 15 actively hiring solar companies, while also providing skill-building opportunities. Additionally, as part of our continued efforts around workforce development and our Women in Solar initiative we hosted a panel of leading women across the industry.

While GRID is best known for providing hands-on experience in the field, the job fair provided an additional opportunity for soft-skill building. In fact, nearly 60 job fair attendees got one-on-one attention from GRID volunteers who are currently employed in the industry during our resume feedback and practice interview sessions. As one job-seeker shared, "Not only did the resume feedback and practice interview give me the tools I need to get a solar job, it also gave me much more confidence when talking with potential employers.  I feel like a new person.”

The companies who attended were also excited to be included and make connections with GRID’s network of job seekers. "Anyone who volunteers with GRID obviously has a passion for solar,” said Bright Current Operation Manager, Sofi Hoysal, “We always guarantee an interview to GRID volunteers!"

A big thank you to everyone who made the job fair such a success! Special thanks to PG&E, all of the companies who tabled at the event, and our fabulous volunteers who donated their time to help job trainees on their resumes and interviews!
