Programmatic Partners

Every GRID Alternatives project is a community project. Homeowners, volunteers, local organizations and businesses, corporations and municipalities as well as generous donors all pitch in to get the job done. To explore partnership opportunities with GRID Alternatives, contact Kate Thibault at kthibault@gridalternatives.org

Local Governments

GRID Alternatives Inland Empire partners with local jurisdictions to bring state solar rebate dollars into communities that need them most. For every dollar invested by Inland Empire jurisdictions and private donors, GRID Alternatives brings six dollars of state solar rebate money to the table. Current and past partners have utilized Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), fee-for-service contracts, low-cost loans and local solar rebate programs to support GRID's work in their communities.

Job Training organizations

The rapidly expanding solar industry is one of the few bright spots in an otherwise sluggish labor market. Employers added 13 percent more jobs in 2012 over 2011, but four out of five solar companies say they can’t find applicants with enough hands on experience.. GRID Alternatives provides a real world classroom for job training organizations, giving students the invaluable experience and networking opportunities vital to getting jobs. Each workday is coordinated with the training program’s structure and curriculum to ensure that everyone has the chance to complete a solar installation, from start to finish.

Affordable Housing organizations

Low-income homeowners in the Inland Empire are faced with hard decisions every day about how to spend their limited resources. Solar power contributes to long-term financial viability for these families, protecting them from uncertain energy prices and helping them remain in their homes. At GRID IE, we coordinate with local affordable housing developers to integrate solar power into new and existing developments for low-income homebuyers. Through our partnership, local housing developers also help us identify potential clients who are most need in need of our services.

Community Partners

By partnering with the community for the community, GRID IE can have strategic and sustainable impact. Our triple bottom line delivers solar power to families most in need, fulfills job training needs and enhances workforce development, and provides renewable energy in neighborhoods with a much greater and far-reaching impact. With our collaborative partners by our side we are truly enriching and engaging our communities here in the Inland Empire.
