Fundada en 1991, el albergue es muy respetado en Tijuana, ya que ha brindado servicios a m\u00e1s de 70,000 menores (89% varones y 11% mujeres) y tiene una tasa de reunificaci\u00f3n del 93,8% de los ni\u00f1os que se han reintegrado con sus familias. Actualmente, atiende a 50 menores mensuales con alojamiento, alimentaci\u00f3n, atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica, ropa y un espacio seguro para ponerse en contacto con los miembros de su familia en Estados Unidos o en otros lugares. La casa cuenta con 15 miembros del personal a tiempo completo y recibe apoyo de m\u00e9dicos, abogados, trabajadores sociales y voluntarios.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"GRID crew work on the YMCA building\" class=\"wp-image-4558\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/gridalternatives.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/ymca4.jpg.webp\" width=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gridalternatives.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/ymca4.jpg.webp 600w, https:\/\/gridalternatives.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/ymca4-300x150.jpg.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>En noviembre de 2021, GRID instal\u00f3 un sistema conectado a la red de 8 kW en el techo del albergue junto con Gecko Solar, un socio solar, y estudiantes de pr\u00e1cticas de la Universidad Tecnol\u00f3gica de Tijuana (UTT). El sistema solar puede ahorrar al albergue $130 pesos mensuales; fondos que pueden ser reinvertidos en la vivienda para proporcionar m\u00e1s servicios a los j\u00f3venes, como ayudar a facilitar la reunificaci\u00f3n de menores con sus familiares, cubrir los gastos de viaje y comidas, y visitar a m\u00e9dicos para los ni\u00f1os que necesitan atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica.
