En noviembre de 2023, el equipo de GRID en M\u00e9xico, junto con estudiantes de energ\u00edas renovables de la Universidad Tecnol\u00f3gica de Tijuana, instal\u00f3 20 sistemas solares dom\u00e9sticos en la remota comunidad ind\u00edgena de Juntas de Neji, Baja California, M\u00e9xico. Con acceso a electricidad limpia y confiable, las familias podr\u00e1n encender la iluminaci\u00f3n y los electrodom\u00e9sticos que les permitir\u00e1n tener un mejor acceso a la educaci\u00f3n, las noticias, el entretenimiento y oportunidades de generaci\u00f3n de ingresos.<\/p>\n

\"Female<\/p>\n

Situada en el municipio de Tecate, Juntas de Neji cubre un \u00e1rea de 11.590 hect\u00e1reas y alberga a 140 habitantes, 90 de los cuales pertenecen a la naci\u00f3n Kumeyaay, lo que convierte a Juntas de Neji en la comunidad ind\u00edgena m\u00e1s al norte de M\u00e9xico. Aunque Juntas de Neji est\u00e1 relativamente cerca de ciudades m\u00e1s grandes como Tecate y Tijuana, la electricidad de red nunca se ha extendido a su comunidad. Algunas familias de la comunidad viven en casas de 500 pies cuadrados que fueron construidas en 2017 por el gobierno federal para reducir la sobrepoblaci\u00f3n en esta zona, pero muchas de las viviendas a\u00fan no tienen electricidad ni agua potable, a pesar de que las nuevas viviendas tienen un tanque para el agua en el techo.<\/p>\n
