Meet our SolarCorps Outreach Fellow, Parwana Ayub! Parwana is a Bay Area native that is grateful to be addressing environmental issues in an inclusive and equitable manner at home.

Pronouns:

She/Her

¿Cómo llegaste a GRID?

I studied environmental policy in college. Upon graduation in 2016 I was awarded the Thomas J. Watson Fellowship, a one-year grant for purposeful, independent exploration outside the United States. I spent my Watson year studying midwifery models of care in historically marginalized communities. At the end of the year I decided to come back to the Bay Area and look for a job that allowed me to serve communities like the ones I grew up in. That’s how I found GRID!

¿Cuál es el valor GRID que más te llama la atención?

Equity. I grew up in under-served communities most of my life, both in the Bay Area and abroad. I understand that addressing environmental issues in an inclusive and equitable manner requires us to acknowledge the race and class dimensions of environmental issues. Serving as an Outreach Fellow has been an enriching experience.

¿El momento favorito de GRID?

Building relationships with clients.

Fun Fact about you

My name means butterfly in Farsi.
