Desde su llegada a San Diego como un ni\u00f1o refugiado hasta ayudar a otros a incorporarse a la fuerza laboral solar, Wisam est\u00e1 construyendo una carrera inspirada en la resiliencia, el servicio y el apoyo de su equipo de GRID SoCal.<\/p>\n

Cuando Wisam lleg\u00f3 a los Estados Unidos como ni\u00f1o refugiado procedente de Irak, su familia buscaba seguridad, estabilidad y un nuevo comienzo. Se instalaron en San Diego en 2012 despu\u00e9s de pasar a\u00f1os esperando la aprobaci\u00f3n para su reasentamiento.<\/p>\n

A medida que se adaptaba a un nuevo pa\u00eds, comenz\u00f3 a interesarse por la energ\u00eda renovable. El programa de formaci\u00f3n \u2019Instalaci\u00f3n B\u00e1sica\u201d de GRID Alternatives llam\u00f3 su atenci\u00f3n y le mostr\u00f3 un camino claro para entrar en el sector.<\/p>\n

A trav\u00e9s de IBT, Wisam desarroll\u00f3 habilidades t\u00e9cnicas mediante la ense\u00f1anza en clase y la experiencia pr\u00e1ctica en la instalaci\u00f3n. Hoy, Wisam trabaja como becario de desarrollo de la fuerza laboral de SolarCorps en GRID Alternatives Southern California, en San Diego. SolarCorps<\/a> Es una beca de 11 meses con sueldo que combina experiencia laboral, mentor\u00eda, desarrollo profesional y servicio comunitario. En marzo, Wisam se uni\u00f3 a los Fellows de SolarCorps de todo el pa\u00eds para un retiro de mitad de per\u00edodo de cuatro d\u00edas en San Diego. La reuni\u00f3n marc\u00f3 el punto medio de sus becas y, para muchos, fue su primera oportunidad de conocer a sus compa\u00f1eros en persona. Los talleres se centraron en el networking, la redacci\u00f3n de curr\u00edculums, LinkedIn y la preparaci\u00f3n para la siguiente etapa de sus carreras.<\/p>\n

\u201cLinkedIn es importante porque es b\u00e1sicamente una red social, pero para la vida profesional\u201d,\u201d<\/strong><\/em>Dijo Wisam. Al salir del retiro, ten\u00eda una mejor comprensi\u00f3n de c\u00f3mo las conexiones profesionales pueden llevar a futuras oportunidades.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Las sesiones de curr\u00edculum tambi\u00e9n le dieron consejos pr\u00e1cticos. Wisam aprendi\u00f3 a estudiar cada descripci\u00f3n de puesto de trabajo, identificar las cualificaciones y el lenguaje que el empleador enfatiza y asegurarse de que su experiencia m\u00e1s relevante sea f\u00e1cil de encontrar para un reclutador.<\/p>\n

Esta disposici\u00f3n a aprender ha ayudado a Wisam a crecer m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de las habilidades t\u00e9cnicas que desarroll\u00f3 inicialmente gracias a IBT. \u00c9l se describe a s\u00ed mismo como un introvertido y dijo que seis meses antes no se sentir\u00eda c\u00f3modo participando en una entrevista o acerc\u00e1ndose a extra\u00f1os en un evento comunitario.<\/p>\n

En su primer evento de divulgaci\u00f3n sobre la fuerza laboral, la directora del programa de desarrollo de la fuerza laboral de GRID SoCal, Elisabetta Baratti, se encarg\u00f3 de dirigir la mayor parte de las conversaciones, mientras que Wisam se mantuvo en silencio y observaba. M\u00e1s tarde, el coordinador s\u00e9nior de divulgaci\u00f3n, Clovis Honore, lo anim\u00f3 a preparar lo que quer\u00eda decir, comprender tanto su propia historia como los programas de GRID y desarrollar un discurso claro.<\/p>\n

Esta pr\u00e1ctica produjo una diferencia notable. Ahora Wisam se siente c\u00f3modo iniciando conversaciones y invitando a la gente a aprender m\u00e1s sobre las oportunidades de formaci\u00f3n de GRID.<\/p>\n

Mientras piensa en lo que suceder\u00e1 despu\u00e9s de SolarCorps, Wisam ve m\u00e1s de un camino prometedor. \u00c9l quisiera seguir trabajando con GRID SoCal, donde su equipo ha alentado su desarrollo y reconocido sus contribuciones.
