Solar job seekers and employers gathered for the third annual Solar Focus Job Fair, co-hosted by MDV-SEIA and GRID Alternatives Mid-Atlantic.
GRID Alternatives Inland Empire (GRID IE) recently hosted its annual summer soiree.

This past August 16th, GRID Inland Empire held another Solar Career Fair in partnership with job training partners: Center for Employment Training – Colton and the Solar Training Network.
The summer is winding down but things are still heating up in the Inland Empire.
In mid-June, 10 trainees climbed onto a roof to install solar for the first time. It marked a special day for GRID in Illinois: the culmination of an eight-week training, combining Lutheran Services of Southern Illinois’ (LSSI) Employment Skills School and a GRID Alternatives solar installation bootcamp, aimed at helping individuals who were formerly incarcerated start careers in the renewable energy field.
Once a year GRID Alternatives celebrates Earth Day through our activities and projects that help people make greener energy choices. As the nation’s largest nonprofit solar installer, GRID is uniquely positioned to make a positive impact in communities plagued with poor air quality.
Since we started GRID in 2004, the urgency for equitable solutions to climate change has only grown. As it gets hotter, seniors are choosing between turning on the air conditioning and buying their medicine. Meanwhile, folks need good jobs that pay a living wage and don’t make them sick.
