Solar for All

Solar for All Program logo

Since 2017, GRID Mid-Atlantic has partnered with the Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE) as part of DOEE's Solar for All program. Solar for All seeks to provide the benefits of solar electricity to 100,000 low-income households and reduce their energy bills by 50% by 2032. The program, which was established by the Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) Expansion Amendment Act of 2016, is funded by the Renewable Energy Development Fund (REDF).

Solar for All provides resources for GRID Mid-Atlantic to offer solar installations and solar workforce training to District of Columbia residents at no cost.

For more information about solar workforce training, visit our Solar Works DC page.

Income Qualifications

GRID Mid-Atlantic installs solar for families who meet our income requirements. Families must make at or below the thresholds to qualify. See our current income thresholds. (They change annually, so check back if you don't qualify now!)

If you aren't sure of your annual income, you can still apply for solar with GRID Mid-Atlantic. We'll work with you to see if you meet our qualifications.

Installation Timeline

Our installation process usually takes six months from the day you apply to the day your system is turned on. As a turnkey solar provider, we take care of everything—so you won't have to deal with any other contractors throughout the process. Learn more about our installation timeline.

If you meet our income qualifications but your home isn't ready for solar, we can help! GRID Mid-Atlantic offers professional services such as roof remediation, electrical work, and more. Our Community Engagement and Advancement team will let you know what resources we can provide after you apply.
