From training to SolarCorps to a career at GRID
“Starting August 18th, I’ll be a Construction Assistant at GRID,” said Marco M. in the final weeks of his SolarCorps Construction Fellowship in late 2025.
Nearly two years earlier, Marco was at the beginning of his solar education journey, participating in GRID’s IBT 200 program. After deciding to continue exploring a career in solar, Marco landed his 11-month fellowship with GRID. There, he honed his installation skills, developed his leadership with incoming trainees, and ultimately confirmed his choice to pursue solar. Now a full-time staff member at GRID, Marco attributes his employment to “hard work, dedication, and passion for the work.”
Through the SolarCorps Fellowship program, GRID IE provides a full-time, 11-month real-world experience to community members interested in pursuing a career in the climate action movement.
With the guidance and mentorship of GRID’s Construction Team and the added support of his family, Marco firmly believes that “SolarCorps is a place of opportunity for anyone and everyone looking to learn.”
Now working as a Construction Assistant at GRID, Marco feels that his extensive training and experience have left him “ready, dedicated, and empowered” to succeed in his career. Recently, Marco and his team installed solar on the first home to receive solar through the Coachella Prospera grant in the City of Coachella. News outlets, including News Channel 3, NBC Palm Springs, and Telemundo Palm Springs, attended the historical event and captured the crew in action.
“My hope is to become a Solar Installation Supervisor one day,” he shared. We are excited to see where your dedication takes you, Marco!
