Our sincere gratitude goes out to the individual fundraisers and corporate groups who sponsored individual homes and volunteered to complete the solar electric installations at this event. Our corporate sponsors include Salesforce.com, PG & E, Google, Innovalight, MMA Renewable Ventures, Washington Mutual, IBEW local 595, and Environ.
GRID Alternatives also wants to acknowledge the community businesses that provided in-kind donations of food and drinks for the event. These include Pete's Coffee of Fruitvale, Noah's Bagels Lakeshore, Arizmendi Bakery, Whole Foods Oakland, Sweet Adeline Bakery of Berkeley, Alameda Natural Grocery, Function Drinks, Trader Joes of Alameda, and Nob Hill Foods.

GRID Alternatives wants to send a big thank you to the folks at Salesforce.com Foundation. Not only have they provided us with a donation of their online CRM product to automate our operations, they have signed on as a Premiere Sponsor for our SOLARTHON 2008 event this month in Alameda. In addition to making a donation to GRID Alternatives and sending a volunteer workteam to the event, on Monday they sent 44 Salesforce.com employee volunteers to help prep the SOLARTHON site. Thank you Salesforce!

The Stanford Chapter of GRID Alternatives recently completed their first solar electric installation in East Palo Alto. Under the guidance of the GRID Alternatives trained staff, Stanford GRID brought together two teams of enthusiastic Stanford students and alumni to install a solar electric system for a well known East Palo Alto community homeowner. This homeowner has been helping other low-income residents in her community by giving away food and clothing to those in need for more than 50 years. Click here to see the photos from the installation.
Many thanks to the homeowner who graciously supported the students' efforts, to the Co-Presidents Emily Humphreys and Lewis Hom, who organized the fundraising efforts and two 15-person volunteer installation teams, and to GRID Alternatives volunteer team leaders Marc Fontana, Uttam Chauhan, and Beth Copanas. The collective efforts of this group resulted in a a very successful weekend installation!

Our amazing volunteers worked hard through a heat wave in El Monte on May 16th-17th so that Gloria could see her meter spin backwards. A huge thanks to our volunteers, LA CAUSA YouthBuild, San Gabriel Valley Conservation Corps, and East Los Angeles Skills Center for being a part of GRID Alternatives - Greater Los Angeles history. And many thanks to the City of El Monte Housing Department for their support. Click here for more pictures of Gloria's installation on PicasaWeb.
