Here on the Central Coast we are excited to introduce some of our workforce development initiatives that have been gaining momentum over the summer. The first is our Troops to Solar program that helps mitigate Veteran unemployment and homelessness by complimenting the already employable characteristics of Veterans by providing them with relevant, industry-specific solar experience. Next, our Youth in Solar program provides solar construction training to at risk youth in order to help them enter the rapidly expanding solar workforce right out of high school to earn a living wage. Also, we have our Women in Solar initiative. The goal of the nationwide Women in Solar movement is to empower women who are statistically underemployed in the solar industry to obtain jobs in order to earn more competitive wages and strive towards economic equality. We look forward sharing stories from the field as we make progress with these initiatives.
