Peter Mandelstam

Peter Mandelstam is Executive Director of GRID Alternatives Tri-State, an affiliate of GRID Alternatives, Inc., the nation's largest solar non-profit. GRID has installed over 7,000 systems since 2004, and trained more than 27,000 people. Tri-State covers NY, NJ, and CT. Previously, Peter was the founder & CEO of a number of on land and offshore wind development companies, including Arcadia Windpower Ltd., Green Sail Energy LLC, and BlueWater Wind LLC. He successfully developed Montana’s first large-scale wind project, and won the Nation’s first offshore wind Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). As a serial entrepreneur since 1998, Peter has built and sold wind energy companies; and won PPAs totaling 474 MW. In the early ‘90s, he co-founded and ran a solar energy non-profit that trained solar technicians and installed projects in the US and Latin America. He began his career in New York City politics and housing. Peter has served on numerous Boards of Directors, including the American Wind Energy Association, the national League of Conservation Voters, Alliance for Clean Energy New York, the Greyston Foundation & Bakery, and Move This World. He is a graduate of Harvard College.
