In late 2023, GRID GLA proudly completed the installation of a solar and battery storage system on the Tzu Chi Wilmington Health Center. In addition to bringing clean energy to the community clinic, the accompanying battery storage system will be able to provide backup power to this critical community space so that in the event of an outage, the center will be able to continue to extend aid to its communities and serve as a community safe haven.

Congressman Tony Cárdenas joins a GRID Alternatives solar installation in his hometown of Pacoima CA. The Congressman has worked hard to see government funding for renewable energy land on the rooftops of neighborhoods like this one.

GRID Alternatives Greater Los Angeles participated in the GREENTECH Festival's debut in Los Angeles on September 27th and 28th. Executive Director Ashley Christy and Director of Workforce Development Shameka Dixon represented GRID GLA in a "fireside chat" titled Building Sustainable Communities with Dale Rickert, Global Head of Product at the GREENTECH Festival.

On July 24th, 2023, GRID Alternatives Greater Los Angeles (GRID GLA), Habitat for Humanity, Accenture, Bank of America, and Southern California Edison, came together to install no-cost solar systems for three families who moved into the recently constructed Millennium Homes, built by Habitat for Humanity. This event celebrated our shared dedication to make lasting change in our communities.

GRID GLA is receiving a $500,000 philanthropic investment from JPMorgan Chase to support our Behind the Walls solar workforce training program, which will prepare women who were formerly incarcerated in LA County Lynwood Women’s Jail for career opportunities in solar and renewable energy. The 13-week, paid program will provide hands-on training for solar panel installation, along with job placement support for those who successfully complete the program. 

Each year, GRID Alternatives Greater Los Angeles (GRID GLA) invites our SolarCorps Fellows to a solar installation in order to make sure each fellow gets a well-rounded learning experience. This year our SolarCorps Install was in May, and our Fellows had a great day installing solar panels for a homeowner who qualified for free, state funded rooftop solar.
