SOLAR ROAD SHOW!!

We're taking our team on the road for solar access in Colorado!

July 8-18, dozens of Colorado renewable energy stakeholders, community volunteers, and local governments are coming together to make renewable energy and job training accessible to underserved communities in Western and Southwestern Colorado.

GRID Alternatives Colorado will be working with communities in Durango, Grand Junction and the Roaring Fork Valley to highlight areas of the state embracing the need for good local programs to help low-income and working families “go solar.” We'll also be doing our first installations for low-income families in these areas and getting the word out about our services. Local communities will work with GRID Alternatives to install a rooftop solar array on the home of a local low-income families in Durango, Grand Junction and the Roaring Fork Valley. Each installation provides over $20,000 in direct financial savings for a family in need, adding to Colorado’s renewable energy  goals and offsetting carbon – equivalent of planting 3,000 trees. Each installation also provides solar job training opportunities for local workforce trainees in one of the fastest-growing industries in the county.

GRID Alternatives Colorado is a non-profit organization with a vision of a successful transition to clean, renewable energy that includes everyone. We bring together community partners, volunteers and job trainees to implement solar power and energy efficiency for low-income families, providing energy cost savings, valuable hands-on experience, and a source of clean, local energy that benefits us all.

Below is a list of events GRID Alternatives Colorado will participate in later this month. All are welcome to attend by RSVP. Media may attend any one of these events to learn more about GRID Alternatives’ program and the communities involved. Each event will include keynote speakers from local government and solar industry leadership and GRID Colorado staff, as well as our clients, job traineers, community volunteers and anyone who is interested in solar access.
