On April 19, 2025, Edison International partnered with GRID Alternatives Inland Empire (GRID IE) for a meaningful and energizing Team-Building Sponsored Volunteer Workday in Rialto, California. This collaboration between Edison’s dedicated employee volunteers and GRID IE’s mission-driven team exemplifies the power of corporate social responsibility and community-focused clean energy solutions.
Through this partnership, Edison International not only provided funding to support GRID IE’s work in delivering no-cost solar to income-qualified families but also brought together a group of enthusiastic employees who rolled up their sleeves and participated in the hands-on installation process. The team spent the day installing a 4.9-kilowatt (kW) rooftop solar system for the Lopez family, a local household eager to join the clean energy movement.

For the Lopez family, this system represents more than just solar panels; it’s a significant step toward long-term financial stability. Over the system's lifetime, they are expected to save more than $32,750 in electricity costs. These savings provide real, tangible relief from rising utility bills, freeing up household income for other essential needs and enhancing the family’s overall financial well-being.
Beyond the financial benefits, the environmental impact of this installation is equally powerful. The new system will prevent the release of approximately 88 tons of carbon emissions, equivalent to planting 2,049 trees. With climate change and air quality top of mind, the Lopez family is proud to be part of the solution, helping create a cleaner, healthier future for their community and beyond.

For Edison International, this workday reflects a deeper commitment to sustainability, equity, and building stronger communities. GRID IE’s Team-Building Volunteer Workdays offer companies a unique opportunity to engage their employees in mission-aligned service while directly supporting clean energy access for families who need it most.
The April 19th event was a resounding success, one that delivered clean energy, inspired a team, empowered a family, and left a lasting mark on the community.
