On September 20th, GRID Alternatives Greater Los Angeles (GRID GLA) proudly concluded our 2025 Take Charge Ride & Drive series with a vibrant community event at Coyolxauhqui Plaza in the heart of Los Angeles.
This finale was more than just a showcase of electric vehicles, it was the culmination of a year-long journey across the region, where we worked hand-in-hand with communities to highlight the promise of clean transportation and the importance of equity in California’s green transition.
The day brought together local residents, community leaders, partners, and advocates who share a common vision of a healthier, more sustainable Los Angeles. Attendees enjoyed an interactive experience that combined test drives of the latest zero-emission vehicles with opportunities to learn about rebates, incentives, and practical resources that make clean mobility attainable for everyday families.
The event embodied GRID GLA's commitment to ensuring that clean energy and transportation solutions are within reach for everyone.
“Our mission is about more than showcasing new technology. It’s about ensuring communities, particularly those historically excluded, are at the center of the clean energy transition. These events create opportunities for residents to connect with sustainable solutions that directly benefit their lives.”
Stella Ursua, GRID GLA Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships

Participants not only experienced electric vehicles firsthand but also learned about charging infrastructure, incentives, rebates, and programs designed to make clean transportation practical and accessible.
“We’re laying the foundation for an equitable future where no one is left behind. These events are a vital way to engage people who might otherwise feel disconnected from conversations around clean energy and zero-emissions technology.”
Nestor Cruz, GRID GLA Clean Mobility Community Engagement Coordinator
At the Ride & Drive, we offered a range of engaging experiences, including EV test drives, demonstrations of classic cars converted to electric, community information booths, sustainability resources, and hands-on education stations about charging at home and in public. Families enjoyed the interactive environment and the opportunity to learn directly from our team, with the added excitement of prizes for participants.
Our commitment goes beyond cleaner vehicles. We work to support workforce development, equitable access to clean energy, and community infrastructure in underserved areas. “The future of clean transportation isn’t just about the latest EVs,” Cruz added. “It’s about integrating these solutions into communities where access to technology and resources has historically been uneven.”
Looking ahead, we’re already planning an even larger and more inclusive 2026. “Next year will focus on new partnerships, more community-driven events, and additional opportunities for residents to engage in the clean transportation movement,” Ursua shared. As part of our Take Charge Initiative, these efforts aim to increase awareness of EV benefits and incentives, empower residents to make informed transportation choices, promote cleaner air and healthier communities, and ensure EV charging infrastructure reflects real community needs.
As California continues toward ambitious zero-emission goals, our work ensures that no community is left behind, keeping equity, education, and access at the heart of the transition to clean transportation.
