GRID Celebrates Solar at Earth Day in Santa Barbara!!!

GRID Alternatives Central Coast wants to thank all of our supporters who attended the 45th annual Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival! Our crew headed out to Alameda Park in Santa Barbara the weekend of April 18 and 19 to spread the word about our mission to make renewable energy technology and job training accessible to underserved communities. We set up a booth in the Live Green section of the park where we engaged hundreds of people in dialogue about our vision of a successful transition to clean, renewable energy that includes everyone. Complete with a full-size 250-watt solar panel, our booth enjoyed the amenity of power thanks to a beautiful sunny weekend (and some crafty engineering)! Our Outreach Coordinator, Workforce Development Coordinator, Development Officer, and AmeriCorps Construction fellow spent the weekend meeting homeowners, signing up volunteers and job trainees, conversing with local politicians, and engaging local business owners to get the word out about the great work we are doing in the local community. With a total attendance of 37,364 people, the Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival was a tremendous success and we were thrilled to be a part of it! We met some amazing people and were truly impressed by the incredible turnout! Thanks to the Community Environmental Council (http://www.cecsb.org) who organized this great event around five important initiatives: Drive Less, Choose Electric, Go Solar, Ditch Plastic, and Eat Local. A great time was had by all!

Please see attached literature about our Workforce Development programs, International program, Solarthon 2015, Client Outreach, and How to Get Involved!!! To save paper and to show our ongoing committment to the environment during Earth Day, we made the following information available via QR Code (rather than distributing flyers). Happy Earth Day!!!
