During rough times, family comes together as one. This is the case of the Garners, a family of six that work together to help each other. Everyone does their part from the teenagers to grandparents; everyone works to support the family including responsibilities from taking the children to school to cooking breakfast. Sabrina Garner, the homeowner, was involved in a tragic car accident in 2010 that left her paralyzed and changed her life forever. At the time, Sabrina, who is a single mother, was working two jobs to support her family. The accident really affected her finances and her life.
Sabrina is always exploring new ways to save money. On January 20, 2017, she discovered GRID Alternatives and met with Carissa Duran, an Outreach Coordinator, who works at the Central Valley office to begin her application. Sabrina really appreciates Carissa’s help and the way she was always there to answer her questions during the qualification process.
Sabrina is very thankful to have a photovoltaic system installed, that during the lifetime of the system her projected savings will be $48,852. Sabrina stated, “It’s going to help all our family, we will be able to save money on our utility expenses and do more with the extra money. The utility bill is kicking our butt, but with the panel’s we will start saving money.” She shared information regarding our program with her aunt, who had her system installed in the summer. Sabrina thanks everyone that made this possible and said we are always welcome at her home, now that GRID is part of her family.
