Jaime Alonso, GRID IE’s Executive Director and a California Climate Leaders Fellow with the Center for Community Investment (CCI), leads our practical, systems-focused work that is reshaping how clean energy reaches households in the Inland Empire.
CCI interviewed Jaime for a case study, “GRID Alternatives: The Power of a Pipeline,” which highlights how GRID IE transformed a local backlog of solar projects into a model for climate equity. The case study presents a simple yet impactful idea. Treat the installation pipeline like a system, find the common barriers that stall families before they can go solar, and move them together with the right mix of partners, funding, and workforce training. The result is faster timelines for low-income households, stronger job pathways for trainees, and a replicable approach other regions can use.
