“I saw GRID’s name in a letter from the City of Moreno Valley, so I knew that you must be a trusted organization,” said Joshua Diaz, Moreno Valley resident and recipient of grant-funded solar installed by GRID IE.
In October 2024, the Diaz family welcomed GRID IE and volunteers from Edison International to install no-cost solar on their home, which also received reroofing funds to make the home solar-ready.
Edison International employees geared up and worked alongside GRID IE’s Construction Team through a Team-Building Sponsored Volunteer Workday, which funded support for GRID IE’s work in the community.

Speaking about applying for grant-funded no-cost solar from GRID IE, Joshua recounted: “That day was a big day for my family, since my wife went into labor with our third child. I was pretty nervous, but also excited. I had so much to get done!” The family's primary goal for going solar with GRID IE was to lower his growing family’s electric bill.

In addition to thanking GRID IE’s crew and the Edison International volunteers who participated in the installation, Joshua expressed his appreciation to his Outreach Coordinator, Andrew Alvarez, and Solar Installation Supervisor, Danny Montero for their help throughout his home’s solar process.

“We are happy, relieved, and excited,” shared Joshua and his family.
We look forward to your savings, Diaz family!
Installing this 5.46 kW solar system will save the Diaz family a combined $20,848 over the system's lifetime. This is equivalent to preventing 88 tons of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere, the equivalent of planting 2,048 trees!
