driven I-REN Energy Fellows for a tour of the Clean Tech Training Center in Riverside. The visit, held on May 28, 2025, provided the Fellows with a hands-on look at how GRID IE is preparing the next generation of clean energy professionals while advancing equity in the renewable energy sector.
The tour began with an overview of GRID IE’s mission: to make renewable energy technology and job training accessible to underserved communities. Fellows learned how GRID’s programs, like the 200-hour Installation Basics Training (IBT 200), provide real-world experience for trainees entering the solar and clean energy workforce.
The Fellows had the chance to engage with our trainers, explore solar training stations, and observe energy efficiency equipment in action.
The visit included a roundtable discussion, where GRID IE staff and I-REN Fellows exchanged ideas on regional workforce development, equity in energy access, and innovative pathways to a green economy.
