Over a subsequent dual days, Grand Valley Power (GVP), an electric mild utility, and GRID Alternatives, a nation’s largest non-profit solar installer, will finish designation of a country’s initial utility-sponsored community solar array portion low-income households. 

A Grand Valley electric cooperative and nonprofit solar installer have broke ground on a project to develop a community solar garden for low-income users.

A first of its kind project in the Western Slope is getting national attention. Leaders of Grand Valley Power and GRID alternatives were invited to Capitol Hill by U.S. Representative Jared Polis 

Over the next two days, Grand Valley Power (GVP), an electric cooperative utility, and GRID Alternatives, the nation’s largest non-profit solar installer, will complete installation of the country’s first utility-sponsored community solar array serving low-income households.

Volunteers on Saturday afternoon completed installation of a 29 kilowatt solar power array in north Grand Junction that will generate approximately 90 percent of the energy needed to power eight low-income households in the Grand Junction area.
