In June of 2019, Elizabeth Parsons was looking for a clerical job with the help of Jefferson County Workforce Center when she first heard about Solar Training Academy (STA). She enrolled in the STA because she wanted to pursue a promising career with growth potential. During the two-week STA, she had a great learning experience and was able to complete CPR, OSHA 10 and Fall Protection certifications which helped open doors for employment. Liz said, “I am very proud of myself and all that I was able to accomplish while working with GRID Alternatives.”
Liz attended a field trip while attending the STA program where she first learned about E Light Electric and their in-house electrical apprenticeship program. In fact, they were hosting a call for electrical apprentice hopefuls the following weekend. Liz jumped at the opportunity to apply for this opportunity and went through the rigorous application process. A month later, Liz got the anticipated phone call. She was accepted into the apprentice program at E Light Electric!
Liz is now a Freshman in E Light's Apprenticeship Training Program and is working in various roles to help E Light complete projects around Colorado. Her work includes various assignments such as pre-fabricating jobsite materials to shadowing electrical engineers on different solar sites, and everything in between. Liz said, “GRID CO was a stepping stone towards a career path. Without the help from GRID CO, I definitely would not be where I am now.” She also said, “If anyone has any doubts or is questioning a career choice, just do it because this helped turn my life around.” Liz is ecstatic to embark on a meaningful career, to work towards her goals of owning a home, and to build a solid foundation.
