Energy Day in Denver - Solar Futures

GRID Alternatives created the Solar Futures program to provide both classroom and hands-on solar education to K-14 students, with a focus on high school juniors and seniors, to provide opportunities to learn more about solar power and illuminate career pathways in the booming solar industry.

GRID Alternatives uses the Solar Futures toolkit to bring solar energy to youth of all ages and in many ways. Last month, GRID Colorado participated in the Energy Day Festival, Denver’s first free family festival showcasing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Energy Day Denver taught kids about various forms of energy, science, technology, efficiency, conservation, and careers in the energy industry. At our booth, GRID Colorado showed off a full size solar module, and offered activities and goodies for kids. Check out photos here!

"It's incredibly important to educate youth on opportunities in the solar industry. Inspiring kids is how we will create the next generation of solar workers," said Allison Moe, Workforce Development Manager at GRID Colorado. "The kids had a blast trying on the electrician's suit and testing solar modules."

GRID Alternatives offers hands-on and classroom activities to engage students as they learn about energy and electricity.  Educators and youth leaders in Colorado can reach out to April Valdez at avaldez@gridalternatives.org to find out how you can bring a little sun into your students' lives!

Thanks, SunPower, for your generouse support of the Solar Futures program!
