GRID SoCal Featured in LA Times Sustainable Living Insert

We are proud to share that GRID Alternatives Southern California was featured in the Sustainable Living insert included with the Sunday, March 29 edition of the Los Angeles Times.

Our article, “Sustainability, Energy Efficiency, and Environmental Justice in Southern California,” written by Jaime Alonso, helped bring GRID SoCal’s voice and mission to a wide public audience through a special publication focused on practical, people-centered approaches to sustainability.

This was an exciting opportunity to highlight something central to our work every day: sustainability does not begin or end with technology. It is also about access, affordability, and ensuring that the benefits of clean energy and energy efficiency reach communities that have too often been left out of these conversations. Being included in this insert gave us the chance to tell that story in a broad public forum and to connect environmental justice more directly to the lived realities of families and communities across Southern California.

It also felt meaningful to see GRID SoCal represented in a publication like the Los Angeles Times. Placements like this help raise awareness of our mission, strengthen public understanding of the issues we work on, and affirm the importance of continuing to tell stories that connect clean energy with equity and community resilience. While the article carries Jaime’s byline, it reflects the work, values, and impact of teams across our region.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of this campaign and proud to see GRID Alternatives Southern California included alongside other voices helping shape the conversation around sustainable living. Most of all, we’re excited to celebrate this moment internally as a reminder that the work happening across GRID SoCal matters, and that it continues to resonate beyond our day-to-day programs and partnerships.

We hope staff, friends, family, and partners in the Los Angeles Times distribution area had a chance to spot the insert in the Sunday, March 29 paper and share in the excitement with us.
