GRID IE Connects with Seniors at Scam Awareness Event in Corona

Victoria Pacheco, GRID IE’s Community Development Officer, pictured here with Assemblywoman Leticia Castillo, is leading a new initiative to connect seniors with information about GRID’s solar programs and related community resources designed to reduce energy costs and support long-term housing stability. Many seniors in the Inland Empire face rising utility bills and limited access to reliable information about assistance programs, making outreach and education a vital part of GRID IE’s mission.

On Tuesday, October 14, Victoria presented at a Senior Scam Awareness event held at the Circle City Center in Corona. The event was hosted by the Office of Assemblywoman Leticia Castillo, with Assemblywoman Castillo in attendance. The gathering brought together local agencies, nonprofits, and community leaders to share practical tools and resources to help protect and empower older adults.

During her presentation, Victoria shared information about how GRID IE’s no-cost solar programs can help seniors save money on energy bills while improving comfort and sustainability at home. She also discussed other local programs that provide energy efficiency upgrades, home repairs, and utility assistance for qualified residents. By making these programs accessible and easy to understand, GRID IE hopes to ensure that more seniors can remain safely and affordably in their homes for years to come.

“Our goal is to meet people where they are and make sure they know that help exists,” Victoria said. “For many seniors, qualifying for solar or home improvement programs can make a huge difference in their monthly expenses and quality of life.”

By participating in community events like this, GRID IE continues to build partnerships that strengthen neighborhoods and expand access to clean energy throughout the Inland Empire.
