GRID Alternatives Inland Empire (GRID IE) established a partnership with the City of Ontario last year to install solar on single-family and multifamily residences in Ontario, California through the TCC Ontario Solar Homes Initiative & Neighborhood Empowerment (SHINE) Program. The partnership between GRID and the City of Ontario has proved successful, despite challenges brought on by the pandemic. GRID continues to provide no cost solar to qualified Ontario home owners through GRID’s Energy for All Program.
Miriam and her family have been Ontario residents for 38 years and she is the matriarch of her large family. She has six adult children, over thirty grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Her daughter, Ana, is her main caregiver and helped her navigate through GRID’s Energy for All Program application process.
Ana heard about GRID through a mailer she received from the City of Ontario. Ana was very skeptical and thought the no-cost solar program sounded too good to be true. After some trepidation, she finally decided to look into the program once her mother’s roof had been fixed.
GRID’s Energy for All Program typically saves qualified homeowners up to 75-80% on their energy bill once the solar system is installed. Ana said her mom has a very giving spirit and would likely use the savings she will soon see from going solar on her children, grand and great grandchildren. She also donates regularly to her local church and will be able to do more of that as well.
Miriam and Ana were truly grateful to learn about GRID Alternatives. Ana said their first point of contact with GRID was Nadia, who she described as having a very delightful attitude and welcomed them with such warmth. She said the roof inspection process went seamlessly, and the team was very polite and thorough. A few weeks after inspection, they were introduced to Outreach member Victoria, who walked them step-to-step through the process. “We were blessed to meet Victoria, who exceeded our expectations from the first day,” said Ana. “She possessed a high level of professionalism, expressed superior knowledge, and shared information with such compassion,” she recalled. They said how delighted they were with the entire process. “This organization made us feel right at home. We were amazed at the amount of dignity and gratitude we were shown. Each one of its staff is outstanding in their own right. You all should be proud to have a successful team that supports, stands, and envisions the movement of making a difference, one community member at a time.”
