Solar Career Fair a Huge Success

This past August 16th, GRID Inland Empire held another Solar Career Fair in partnership with job training partners: Center for Employment Training – Colton and the Solar Training Network.  This year’s hiring event featured five local solar companies including Horizon Solar Power, SolarMax Tech, Infinity Energy, Mohr Power Solar, and yours truly, GRID Alternatives.

The event churned out experienced candidates in a variety of specialized backgrounds in sales, design, solar installation, electrical work and the like. Workforce and Volunteer Manager Cindy Corrales shared that, "This year, our solar career fair brought out a wonderful group of experienced solar sales and construction professionals and it was great that GRID could be a part of the recruiting process this year.”

One of GRID’s long-time volunteers, Reginald “Rex” Sauls, has an inspiring story of successfully obtaining a position in the solar industry.  Rex has built a colorful career in the solar industry from sales, installation and inspections. When the opportunity arose for Rex to meet multiple hiring employers, he didn’t hesitate to RSVP for GRID’s Solar Career Fair. Equipped with a binder full of previous solar inspection documents in hand, he worked the room and shared his stories of knowledge in the industry.

A few days after the career fair, GRID received a call from a solar partner, Horizon Solar Power. They shared the news that they eagerly hired Rex to be one of their Solar Inspection Representatives! One of GRID’s goals is to make solar careers more accessible, which is accomplished through its free hands-on job training. GRID is proud to hear of this recent solar hiring success and is looking forward to hearing more stories of local solar hires from our GRID base.

If you or someone you know has utilized GRID experience to land a job we would love to hear your story.  If you are still pursuing a job in the solar industry, sign up for GRID Inland Empire’s Solar Job Alerts email list.
