We catch up with GRID Colorado intern, Codey Fredenhagen, on his path to the solar industry.
"GRID Alternatives has been a terrific organization that really demonstrates their mission every day through training and granting opportunities to those in need. I was a project manager in the investment technology space for over twenty years. I wanted to utilize my project management skills, but apply them to the solar industry. I started volunteering with GRID Alternatives in 2017 with volunteer installation days on some large community solar projects. I was immediately hooked! I loved the people, the mission, and their dedication to safety.
GRID held training sessions that helped me grow my knowledge and encouraged me to enroll in additional training to make the jump on the solar coaster. I attended several training courses and received my NABCEP Associate creditial. In 2019, GRID held a residential design training course. As a volunteer, I asked to be taught the process to build the residential designs for GRID. They put me through their extensive design training program. At the end of the training, I started an internship with GRID. I have been able to bring my project management experience to work on large community solar projects, philanthropy campaigns and creating residential solar designs. I have even made it safely on rooftops for installations! I am so thankful for GRID and their generosity in providing such a great opportunity to learn this industry."
