Jennifer Munoz grew up in the Coachella Valley, purchasing her current home in Indio eight years ago. She first learned about GRID through participation in a weatherization program, and then spoke with an outreach coordinator in order to learn more about GRID’s solar program. During the call, Jennifer expressed her level of energy conscientiousness. She actively pursues conservation and instills those values in her family. Some of her efforts include drought-friendly landscaping, making sure electronic devices are powered down completely, and even timed showers.
At the time, GRID had not started installing solar systems in her community, but she was hopeful that she would eventually be considered for a GRID system. When GRID’s program expanded to the Imperial Irrigation District utility areas of eastern Coachella Valley, the Outreach team reached out to Jennifer. She was very excited to learn that she qualified for GRID’s no-cost solar program, which was very different from others she heard about from contractors who required credit checks and placed liens on homes. “The application process went very smoothly and was fast,” Jennifer commented. “Within a couple months, the GRID Construction team was at my house and the system was installed.”
Jennifer is expecting a reduction of her electric bill in the range of 50-90%. She is thrilled about the savings and shared her GRID experience with friends so that they too can save money while improving air quality. In fact, she has a friend who submitted an application for a GRID system. If approved, Jennifer will receive $200 from GRID for simply referring a qualified homeowner. GRID’s referral bonus program will continue through the end of 2017, so if you know someone who may qualify for a GRID System, call today at 951.465.2864 or visit www.gridsolar.org.
