Happy Homeowners Hail GRID

Homeowners Bill and Carol Morrison have been living in Riverside since 1986. Bill is a veteran who served in the United States Army and works in the field of telecommunications. His wife Carol is a retired dental technician. Both are now empty nesters who look forward to the savings they expect to see thanks to their recent solar installation through GRID.

Bill and Carol rented their home for many years until they were finally able to purchase it from their landlord. Once they became new homeowners, they were anxious to enhance their home with energy efficient upgrades. Thanks to Riverside Housing Development Corporation (RHDC), they qualified for funding to assist them with these renovations. It was through RHDC that they first learned about GRID’s no-cost solar program.

“Once I made the call to GRID, everyone was wonderful. From the staff who assisted with the application process to the crew and students who helped to install our solar system, GRID has been great,” explained Carol.

Any reservations about the quality of GRID’s volunteer installers were quickly dimensioned once the construction team completed the project. When Carol stepped outside and saw the panels, she was very pleased. She explained that she was very impressed with how thorough the GRID Solar Installation Supervisor was in making sure that her roof passed inspection. Carol mentioned GRID even installed carbon monoxide detectors in her home.

Carol recalls the oil crises that evoked the gas shortage in the 1970s, so energy conservation has always been of importance to her family. She is very thankful that she made the call and say’s she carries GRID information in her car and hands out to friends to help provide information about GRID’s Solar Affordable Housing Program and volunteer opportunities.

GRID assists homeowners like Bill and Carol with savings of up to 90 percent on their energy bill through solar technology. To see if you qualify for GRID’s Solar Affordable Housing Program, call 951-465-2864, or visit www.gridsolar.org to complete an online application.
