IBT 200 class of September 2024: Angel, Daveion, Tyreck, Jesus, Gregory, Angel, and Joaly
Since the launch of GRID IE's Clean Tech Training Center (CTTC) in 2022, our Workforce Team has redefined how the Inland Empire is included in a growing, clean energy economy that benefits all.
Solar is on pace to employ 400,000 people in America by 2030, and the overall clean energy industry is expected to hire more than 900,000 workers by 2035 to reach the nation’s 100% clean electricity goal.
In September 2024, our third cohort of IBT 200 students wrapped up their full-time, 5-week course covering the complete installation of photovoltaic systems–both in the classroom and working alongside our professional Construction Team.

To demonstrate their readiness for rewarding and demanding careers in the solar industry, a solar showcase took place for students to display their skills to potential employers. Without guidance from the Workforce Team who trained them, the cohort worked together to install a solar system on the CTTC’s mock roof.
IBT 200’s curriculum is created based on the NABCEP PV Installer Specialist Job Task Analysis, an established and recognized certification organization in the renewable energy industry. Upon completion of the program, graduates are given a stipend that can be used to support further career development, such as NABCEP certifications.
After acing their mock roof installation, family members and friends began to arrive for the main event of the day–the graduation ceremony. With bouquets, gift baskets, and smiles, the guests heard speeches from the Workforce Team as they recounted the hard work and growth of the cohort––including a special recognition to the first women in IBT 200. As their speeches came to a close, two of the IBT 200 graduates, Gregory B. and Joaly M., were welcomed to the podium to give a speech of their own!

As the cheers and applause settled, the presentation of certificates began. In a heartwarming ceremony, graduates were surrounded by family and friends as they captured the momentous occasion.
