GRID Alternatives Inland Empire (GRID IE) collaborated with the Riverside County’s Workforce Connection Program and College of the Desert last year to launch a Solar Construction Cohort Program, which proved to be very successful. The purpose of the program is to connect job trainees with employment prospects and offer hands-on rooftop education to equip them for a promising solar career. Nine students graduated with over half of the class obtaining jobs upon graduation, including two with GRID.
GRID IE is proud to announce the continuation of the Solar Construction Cohort Program. Exciting things are planned for these 10 new cohorts. The curriculum will include Photovoltaic theory, and the Workforce and Volunteer team will teach life skills including resume and job interview coaching. In addition, they will also receive hands-on installation basics training through the construction team. The cohorts schedule will entail spending one day a week of classroom instruction and three days a week on the roof.
The Second phase of the Solar Construction Cohort Program is set to commence on February 4, 2020 and graduation anticipated to take place in the spring of 2020.
