Solarthon is an annual marathon solar installation and block party, this year it's taking place in the city of Escondido. On Saturday October 8 between 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., over 60 volunteers — including individual sponsors, corporate teams, job trainees and the homeowners themselves — will arrive on North Elm Street to install solar electric systems on the roofs of ten low-income families over the course of a single day.

Solarthon is our largest community event of the year!
Participants get hands-on experience installing solar for local families, network with other solar enthusiasts and solar installation companies, and have a great time all while making a real difference to a community in need. Whether you're looking to volunteer, sponsor or simply take a tour of the event, this is an important opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to environmental and community sustainability.
GRID Alternatives is a national nonprofit, we here in San Diego are a regional office. Over 7000 families have benefited from GRID Alternatives work nationally, saving over $191 million in lifetime electricity costs, and over 27,000 people have received solar training. In San Diego, more than 750 families have been served to-date, for combined lifetime savings of over $19,300,000 and a emissions offset of over 53,000 tons!
