November 26, 2012

Put on your party hardhat and celebrate: the 7th Annual Bay Area Solarthon on July 21st in San Jose was a HUGE success! Thank you to all of our amazing sponsors, Solar Champions, homeowners and job trainees from the Center for Employment Training who all came together to successfully install 13 solar electric systems (a total of 262 solar panels) in one day!

Over their 30 year life span, the 13 solar systems installed at Solarthon will save over $450,000 for these low-income families while preventing over 1,500 tons of carbon emissions. This is the equivalent of taking over 300 cars off the road for one year!

Thank you to all of our Solar Champions, event sponsors, and statewide sponsors who helped us raise over $100,000 at this year's event! Sponsors for Solarthon 2012 included Yingli Solar, SunPower Corp., Wells Fargo, The City of San Jose, Salesforce.com Foundation, Google, Sungevity, AnswerLab, Aruba Networks, Real Goods Solar, ProVoltz, Verengo Solar, Enphase Energy and Burnham. Thank you also to all of our generous in-kind donors. Your support and partnerships are invaluable as we continue to bring solar savings to communities who need it the most.

Another huge thank you to our individual fundraisers, or Solar Champions, who raised an incredible $20,000 in support of Solarthon 2012! We also want to send some extra special GRID love to Rosana Francescato and Tim Lindl, our two top fundraisers who raised over $3,400 each from their respective networks! Wow!

We are celebrating all of our many partners and supporters who come together at Solarthon (and all year round!) to help create a more sustainable and inclusive energy future. Thank you!
