San Mateo County Residents - put fossil fuels in the rearview with used EV rebates

GRID Bay Area is excited to announce our partnership with Peninsula Clean Energy! Launched on August 10th, this program will allow San Mateo County residents to receive up to $6,000 in rebates for the purchase of a used electric vehicle.

All San Mateo County residents are now eligible for a used EV rebate.  Income-qualified county residents can receive a rebate as high as $5,700 for a plug-in hybrid or $6,000 for a fully-electric vehicle. Combining this rebate with other available incentives from state and local programs can add up to as much as $13,500 in incentives per household.

The Peninsula Clean Energy program will allow you to enjoy immediate savings at the time of purchase of a plug-in hybrid or fully-electric vehicle by going to a participating dealership. You can also work with a car retailer of your choice and submit a post-purchase application to receive your rebate by mail. Qualifying used EVs must be eight-years-old or newer with a pre-incentive purchase price of $35,000 or less. Residents must apply prior to purchasing to be eligible for the rebate.

GRID Bay Area will assist you in the application process including general EV and charging education, program stacking education, and assistance in applying to other incentive programs.

Peninsula Clean Energy is committed to providing environmental and economic benefits to the residents and businesses of San Mateo County. This commitment includes helping the entire county make the easy transition to EVs through rebates and expansive efforts to install new charging infrastructure across the region. EVs provide lasting benefits to the community. In addition to offering significantly lower operation and maintenance costs to drivers, EVs emit significantly less emissions than gasoline-powered cars.
