Trainees to leading crews: Best friends take on the solar industry

In 2018, Jace and Dominic graduated from our Solar Training Academy (STA). Dom and Jace met in the third grade and are practically brothers. After Dom started his training with GRID, he knew it was something Jace would also enjoy. Their training led them to a career working side-by-side. A year later, we’re catching up with them to see how their new careers are going!

During their STA cohort, the “brothers” started a friendly competition to see who would be the first to become a master electrician. Over a year later, they’re both working towards their electrical apprenticeship at Auric.

Before GRID, Dom was driving for Lyft and Uber and cooking in restaurants. Exposing himself to solar technology put him on a new career path. While the sun can be tough, Dom says, “Solar gives me satisfaction that I’m making the world better.”

Both Dom and Jace started as installers with Auric right after they completed STA. “All the training I got at GRID really gave me a leg up,” said Dominic. After about a year, they’re both now leading their own crews, including other STA graduates, and working toward their electrical certifications. Way to go!
