Yohan Contreras
Site Visit Technician
Born and raised in the South LA region of Southern California Yohan was determined to making something out of himself growing up from poverty, a rough and violent neighborhood and broken home, and a place where there wasn’t much opportunity and resources.
He was always determined to make it out from such a place where there was little to no hope. After a rough patch in his life from bad decisions and mistakes which led to several years of incarceration, he never let that determine who he was or who he was meant to become in life, he decided to change his life around and seek a career path in solar with the help and full Support of Homeboy Industries where they helped him get back into school after his release in January of 2023. With determination and hard work Yohan successfully graduated from the East Los Angeles Skill Center and received his certifications in Photovoltaics, Solar thermal and TradeMathematics. Shortly after he joined the IBT200 GLA Cohart at GRID Alternatives Greater Los Angeles, where he further pursued his career in solar and gained more hands-on experience and knowledge for the solar world. Upon Graduating the IBT200 training program on April 11th of 2024, he received an Extension for 3 months for exceptional performance and unwavering commitment to sustainable renewable energy. After his extension and continuous commitment and dedication to renewable energy Yohan received his offer letter on June 13th of 2024 for the position of Site Visit technician (On-Site) and became full time on July 1st of 2024. He looks forward to expanding his knowledge in Solar and growing as a person. Forever grateful to GRID Alternatives for the life changing opportunity.
