We're excited that last week, California's Strategic Growth Council voted to award a massive investment of Transformative Climate Communities Program dollars to bring environmental, health, and economic benefits including GRID Alternatives solar to the Northeast Valley of Los Angeles, CA. TCC implementation funds – which have previously been awarded to benefit Californians living in neighborhoods in Fresno, Ontario, Sacramento, and Watts, Los Angeles – support community-led and neighborhood-scale development and infrastructure to directly help disadvantaged communities, while also reducing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. The Green Together Northeast Valley proposal funded by SGC is truly transformative: $23 million in Pacoima and Sun Valley projects, which will allow hundreds of families to get GRID solar with Energy for All.
In our upcoming Northeast Valley work, this organization will team up with our longtime partners to make a healthy, sustainable Pacoima reality. Pacoima Beautiful has been a partner of our Outreach team since we came to L.A.! Other partners in GRID's coalition work include Community Partners, Conservation Corps, Los Angeles Business Council, Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator, and Trust for Public Land. We expect this investment to bring momentous positive outcomes to Valley communities who need clean energy and good jobs, boosted by the support of Wells Fargo, which has awarded $500,000 to our broad-based coalition in Pacoima in order to create new jobs and generate at least $5 million in private investment through installation of 5 megawatts. We're grateful for Wells Fargo's continued support, and know that this grant will be a "down payment" for Workforce Development that will allow GRID's ambitious installation goals in the region to be reached with TCC.
Thank you to our Pacoima and Sun Valley partners and especially to the SGC voting board for an enormous opportunity to bring transformative improvements to people on climate change's front lines! We're excited to make this investment a lasting one for Angelenos with some of the highest needs, and celebrate the work ahead!
