Chino Homeowner Receives No Cost Solar Thanks to Community Partner SCE

A new house is a blank canvas for the countless memories, opportunities, and life events for a family. For new homeowners like David Cibrian, the house that he moved into last October is a place of limitless opportunities for his wife and young daughter. After receiving an opportunity to purchase a home with Neighborhood Partnership Housing Services Inc. (NPHS), he also discovered he qualified for GRID Alternatives’ no-cost solar program. David realized that solar was an amazing opportunity to help his family save money while making an environmental impact. When asked about his experience with GRID, David expressed his excitement to see the savings on his electric bill. “I am grateful and thankful for programs like these,” he said. “Look into GRID, call them, and you’ve got nothing to lose.”

Through a donation from Edison International, David along with two other homeowners had solar installed on their homes, expected to save them up to 90 percent on their electricity bill. Caroline Choi, the senior vice president of Regulatory Affairs for Southern California Edison is no stranger to solar energy. She was introduced to GRID from the Greater Los Angeles Office where she participated in a Women in Solar build in October 2017.

Thanks to the efforts and enthusiasm of over 45 volunteers from Southern California Edison, three homes had solar installed, saving them money on their electricity bill that they can put to use on other household necessities. Volunteers from SCE were introduced to all aspects of the installation process from conduit bending to panel installation. When asked about the synergy between SCE and GRID Alternatives, Caroline said; “We are partners in advancing clean energy and customer access to clean, renewable energy.”

David encourages anyone who believes they may qualify to learn how GRID can reduce their energy bills to fill out a pre-qualification form or call 951-465-2864. GRID also offers free training and in some cases paid internships. For more information about GRID’s solar programs, visit www.gridsolar.org or call 951.465.2864.
