Ayodele Mason

SolarCorps Construction Fellow
Ayodele’s first experience in solar was building a solar panel in Tamale, Ghana, while in college. She realized she wanted to continue down the path of solar after teaching women in the village about renewable energy resources as part of that project. She graduated from Solar Works DC during the pandemic, which helped her build community and build new career goals. “There is a symbol from the Akan people of Ghana of a bird with its head turned back called ‘Sankofa,’” Ayodele said. “To me, this symbol signifies learning from the past to build for the future. I’ve applied this framework to my life, to solar, the environment, and the world we live in. In order to make positive progress, we need to learn from the past.”
