Mayra Iglesias

Mayra Iglesias joined the GRID Mid-Atlantic team as an Outreach Coordinator in 2021. Back and forth from Brazil during her childhood due to her Brazilian mother, she was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where her father is from, but has also lived in Caracas, Paris, and Washington DC. Mayra’s exposure to the world and people from different backgrounds and different environments have allowed her to build bridges between people and develop strong intercultural skills, something she takes pride in. Mayra graduated from George Washington University with a degree in International Affairs and a concentration in International Economics with two regional concentrations: Asia and Latin America, where she hoped to understand the development dynamics of the Global South. Her passion for sustainability, clean energy, and her commitment to leading a sustainable life herself come from the life-altering moment she had after watching “The True Cost,” a documentary that re-focused her life and career on the environment and sustainability leaving her past ambitions behind. She hopes to get an MBA to advance the efforts of sustainable finance.
