New Solar Initiative Announced

Last fall, we kicked off our Mid-Atlantic presence by installing solar for 10 families in Washington DC’s Ivy City neighborhood. Now, thanks to a new program offered by the District Department of the Environment (DDOE) and DC Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU), we can ramp up our work in DC at full speed! The new program called “Solar Advantage Plus”, will provide $1.4 million in solar rebates for single-family, low-income homeowners in the District, a major victory for families that need the savings most.

If you or someone you know may qualify for a solar system, please contact us at infodc@gridalternatives.org.

We are thrilled by the announcement of this program and the trend towards making clean energy accessible for everyone. This new program will serve not just low-income homeowners, but will create job training opportunities as well. Every GRID installation means hands-on training opportunities for job trainees and volunteers. We’ll be working with local communities, job training organizations, community colleges and other groups to maximize the amount of solar power and job training opportunities created by the program.

Want to get involved? You can join us in making renewable energy technologies available to underserved communities by becoming a volunteer and helping with an install! Sign up here.
