We believe that everyone should benefit from solar technology. Not just our clients receiving the solar systems, but also the hard workers installing them.
Through the implementation of our Solar Works DC program, GRID Mid-Atlantic prepares DC residents for entry-level solar careers through hands-on solar installation training and professional development workshops. We are dedicated to meeting our trainees’ needs, providing a wide-range of services from funding for childcare and transportation, to resume building and interview preparation. This is not only an investment in creating a stronger solar workforce, but an investment in traditionally marginalized communities that have fewer opportunities and resources. Using this inclusive model, Solar Works DC has changed the lives of 100 trainees to-date.
Like former trainee, Tazz, who shared in an interview with Circa news, "The people that don't want to be in the streets, it's giving us a chance.”
Former trainee and current GRID Mid-Atlantic employee, Batrina adds, “We know that underserved communities sort of live in the heaviest polluted areas. So, for them to be a part of that change, I think is great.”
And former trainee, Ayaz, who is now employed at a national solar company, shares, "GRID has honestly given us the tools we need to succeed in our job search moving forward. With all the interview preparation, all the resume and skill building, it’s been phenomenal.”
Help bring the benefits of solar installation job training to uplift communities by donating to our #GiveSolar campaign. $50 provides professional development workshops for job trainees and $100 helps provide trainees the certifications needed to obtain a job in the solar industry. Or skip out on your next cup of coffee and donate $5 -- no gift is too small!
We greatly appreciate your support.
