For the Tucker family, solar power is as much about the environment as saving money. “We’re very conservative with energy, so our bills weren’t as high as some others,” says Jan Carpenter Tucker, “but we really wanted solar, because it seems like the right thing to do.”
The Tucker family were surprised they qualified for GRID’s services. “We always get the phone calls and canvassers and we’re never a fit,” says Ms. Carpenter Tucker. “GRID made it happen for us and we are ecstatic.”
Ms. Carpenter Tucker was particularly touched by GRID’s team going the extra mile to make her system viable. “We only needed a really small system, smaller than usual,” says Ms. Carpenter Tucker. “GRID went and designed something especially for us and they didn’t bother us about a thing. It was amazing.”
With husband Vernon Tucker at work, Ms. Carpenter Tucker and daughter Naima Tucker held down the fort during the solar panel installation and she had a blast. “It was like hosting a party! I had so much fun. I’m exhausted, but it really was the best experience.”
Ms. Carpenter Tucker points to the house opposite hers and assesses their roof, she is determined to get her whole neighborhood to go solar. “It’s just so great, I want to share it with everyone I know who might benefit.”
