Last week, 40 employees from South San Franciscos Genentech, a biotechnology company, took a break from their busy work schedules to join GRID Alternatives Bay Area as part of their Genentech Gives Back volunteer week. Their support and hard work brought a total of 5 kilowatts of solar power to two low-income families in San Francisco who otherwise would not have access to it, which will save them an estimated $53,000 in long-term energy costs while preventing 193 tons of greenhouse gas emissions over the systems lifetimes.
From serving meals to beach clean-ups, Genentech employees donated countless hours during their Gives Back Week - including over 140 hours installing solar with GRID! From all of us, thank you, Genentech, for giving back!
