Richmond family goes solar with Berkeley Energy and Resources Group

The Bay Area team here at GRID Alternatives would like to send a big green congratulations and thank you to the Berkeley Energy and Resources Group (ERG), who not only completed a solar installation for the Thompson family in Richmond last weekend but also raised nearly $7,500 to support GRID!

In addition to being solar superstars, ERG is a unique interdisciplinary community of graduate students, core faculty and over 100 affiliates and researches from across the University of California Berkeley whose mission is research and education for a sustainable environment and a just society.

We applaud the work that they are doing in our communities and abroad, and give thanks for their support of GRID Alternatives and the Thompson family, who will save over $20,000 from their new solar system over its lifespan while preventing 69 tons of greenhouse gas emissions - the equivalent of planting 1,300 trees!

As ERG prepares the next generation of scholars and leaders to confront the challenges of environmental sustainability and equity, they are gaining hands-on, in-the-field experience through partners like GRID Alternatives.
