As a job trainee through WESTCARE, Kenneth Mull was not sure what to expect when he was invited to attend a presentation for free training in solar installation. The presentation offered opportunities to gain employment in the solar industry through free hands on training. Deciding to give GRID Alternatives a chance, he soon found himself on a rooftop in the Central Valley installing his first solar system. Finding joy and passion in the work that he was doing, he quickly realized that he could make a career out of installing solar.
Wanting a change in his life, Kenneth was determined to attend every installation that he could, stating, “I see the booming solar industry as an opportunity for me to change my life around. I previously worked in the carpentry field and enjoy applying my skills to solar.” He took the initiative to arrive at the Central Valley office early each morning to help the construction team load the trailers for the day’s install. His excitement for the opportunity was apparent in his contagious smile. With his attention to detail and willing attitude he worked his way up to becoming a GRID Team Leader.
“My experience with GRID Alternatives has been great. I enjoy and appreciate the support from the staff” states Kenneth. Taking each day at a time, Kenneth continues to grow his volunteer experience with us and aspires to become a Foreman in the solar industry.
