Unique Thomas
Workforce Development Trainer
Unique was born and raised in Los Angeles Ca, she moved to Santa Cruz Ca for her undergrad at UCSC where she fell in Love with the Arts and education. Unique always had a passion for working with people /Students. She participated and led a few productions in Cultural Arts and Diversity and the African American Theater Arts Troupe Program at UCSC, where she learned to live by the moto "If you ever want to be blessed.. learn to uplift someone higher than yourself"- Her passion grew for helping the community. Growing up in a underserved community herself, she always wanted to give back.
She is now able to use her creative mind and help expand the minds of others as a Solar Installation Trainer at GLA. She started off as a IBT trainee GRID and quickly grasped the information being taught. After graduating from IBT, Unique had the opportunity to serve as a JCI ( Junior commercial installer) Installing on numerous Commercial Projects and Residential Homes & later on got to install with WE BUILD 2023 and compete in Solar Games competition in 2024 as the only women’s teams competing amongst all men.
Unique Says, being a women in this field can be intimidating, but she feels like she can inspire people and women around the world to face the impostor syndrome and stand together … unique feels very proud to be a part of the grid family, & looking forward to sharing many more years.
